Welcome to the 1998 Howell Park Thursday flight!
This package contains most of the information that you'll need to
get started, including your release form, schedule, the initial sub list
and the first week's pairings. Here are some other important details:
- First Match:
The first night of play will be April 30th, at Howell, unless the course is closed.
The first match parings can be found at hp-th9800.html.
- Web-Site:
The League's official web-site is http://www.dcentral.com/~golf/ - feel free to drop by and look around. Weekly match results, and statistics, will get get posted there.
- League Fees/Prizes:
The cost for league play is now $10, and is to be turned in to me by the second week of play. If you're paying by check, make it payable to "Russell Brodfuhrer."
New members of this flight should be aware that we're about 3 years behind in
collecting and distributing league prizes (except trophies ordered directly from Joe Carey).
I'll make every attempt to collect and distribute past due prizes, and will
most likely purchase our own flights prizes myself this year. If this is the
case, there will be no option to receive trophies in lieu of balls.
- 1997 Flight Championship:
The 1997 Flight Championship match, between Randy Thomas/Jane Kasper and Ken Yale/Basil Papatrefon, has been played!!! Sort of.
Randy & Jane beat Ken and Basil, 6-4, in their 1998 week 2 match, which they're
also counting as last year's Flight Championship match.
Congratulations, at last.

- Release Forms:
Release forms must be turned in by everyone - employees, retired folks, consultants and kids. These are due by the second week of play also. You may download the form from the league web-site.

- Handicaps:
The maximum handicap this year is still 19 - I'm happy to see this doesn't apply to anyone here.
- League Rules:
The rules package will be e-mailed to any flight members who request it. It is also available at the League's web-site.
- Match Results:
All I need from you is the score card after your match. You can give me the card at the course, at Woody's (see below), or give me the hole-by-hole scores via
e-mail the morning following play.
- Soft Spikes:
The county courses have switched to mandatory soft spikes this year.
Please replace your worn out metal spikes with plastic now!
- Tee Times:
The county courses are again using the Tee-Time Reservation Service to distribute tee-times. The number is (908) 758-8383. You will need to be in possession of a vaild (unexpired) county golf I.D. card (or equivalent non-resident golf I.D. card) to use the service. It is my understanding that reservation service rules infractions (failure to show up, show up with fewer golfers than reserved, etc) will be strictly enforced this year, and will result in loss of reservation priveledges. Use the service responsibly!
- Watering Holes:
The unofficial after-golf food and beverage establishment for the flight is Woody's, located in the center of Farmingdale at the site of the former Farmingdale
House restaurant.
The back-up watering hole is Mulligan's (on Rt 524/Rt 547 just south of town).
